What does Proverbs 22:25 mean?
Pay attention and listen to the words of the wise; let their teachings shape your life. Proverbs 22:25 - Modern Text Bible
(Listening to wise advice and letting it influence you leads to a better life.)
If you spend time with people who can’t control their anger, you’ll start picking up their habits — and it can trap you in a cycle of conflict. The verse says you can “learn their ways” and “get yourself ensnared.” The Hebrew word for snare here is moqesh, meaning a literal trap or something that catches you by surprise.
This pushes back on the idea that you’re immune to the influence of others. It’s easy to think you can stay above it all, but the reality is, you become like the people you’re around. Anger, especially, is something you can catch, like a cold, and it can lead to decisions you regret.
If you’re trying to break free from drama or constant arguments, this verse offers a practical step: change your environment. Who you spend time with shapes your reactions, and sometimes the best way to avoid trouble is to avoid those who create it.
