What does Proverbs 11:21 mean?
You can be sure: the wicked won’t get away with it forever. But the children of good people will be safe. Proverbs 11:21 - Modern Text Bible
(No matter how things look, those who do wrong will face consequences, while the families of the righteous will find protection.)
No matter how many people join together in wrongdoing, evil won’t escape consequences, but those who do right will be rescued. The phrase "hand joined to hand" is a Hebrew idiom (yad le-yad), meaning even if people unite in their plans, it won’t shield them from justice.
This verse challenges the belief that there’s safety in numbers or that collective wrongdoing can avoid accountability. It insists that justice is bigger than any group or scheme, and that integrity is ultimately the safer path.
If you feel pressure to go along with the crowd or think that everyone’s doing it so it must be okay, this proverb is a warning: group approval doesn’t erase consequences. Doing right may not always be popular, but it’s the only path that leads to real security.
