What does Revelation 8:13 mean?

Then I looked and heard an eagle flying high in the sky, calling out in a loud voice, 'Trouble is coming! Trouble is coming! Trouble is coming to everyone living on earth, because of the last three trumpets the other angels are about to blow.' Revelation 8:13 - Modern Text Bible

(The eagle’s warning means that even worse things are coming, urging people to pay attention and turn back to God.)

An eagle flies overhead, crying out three times that more disaster is coming. The Greek word for "woe" is ouai, an expression of deep grief and warning. Repeating it three times makes the warning urgent and inescapable. In the ancient world, eagles were seen as messengers from the gods, so this is a sign that the message is serious. The verse pushes back against the belief that things can’t get worse, or that warnings can be ignored. It also challenges the idea that we’re always safe from what happens to others. Sometimes, the signs are clear, but we don’t want to see them. For someone who senses trouble ahead—whether in a relationship, a job, or the world—this verse is a wake-up call. It’s a reminder to pay attention to warnings, and to take them seriously, even if it’s uncomfortable.
