What does Proverbs 8:9 mean?

If you’re willing to learn, you’ll see that what I say makes sense. If you’re looking for knowledge, you’ll recognize it’s right. Proverbs 8:9 - Modern Text Bible

(Those who are open-minded and seeking truth will recognize the value and clarity in wisdom’s words.)

Wisdom’s words are clear and easy to understand for those who want to learn. They’re straightforward to anyone who’s open and honest in their thinking. The Hebrew word for "understanding" is binah, meaning insight or discernment—it’s about seeing how things really work.

This verse pushes back on the idea that wisdom is mysterious or impossible to grasp. It’s not about being super-intelligent or having secret knowledge. If you genuinely want to understand, wisdom makes sense.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by complicated advice or felt like you just don’t get it, this verse says you don’t have to be a genius. An open mind and a desire to learn are enough for wisdom to become clear.
