What does Proverbs 25:2 mean?
God's ways are mysterious, but it's a king's job to search things out and understand them. Proverbs 25:2 - Modern Text Bible
(While God's plans are beyond us, leaders are called to seek out wisdom and understanding.)
God’s greatness is shown in hiding things, while a king’s greatness is shown in searching them out. The Hebrew word for "conceal" is sathar, meaning to hide or keep secret. For "search out," the word is chaqar, which means to investigate thoroughly or dig deep.
This flips the script on the idea that everything should be simple or obvious. In a world that values easy answers, this verse celebrates the mystery of life and the curiosity to dig deeper. It suggests that not everything is meant to be handed to us; some truths are hidden on purpose, inviting us to explore and discover.
When you face questions with no clear answers, this verse gives permission to keep searching. Curiosity isn’t a flaw—it’s a mark of wisdom. Sometimes, the process of seeking is just as important as the answer you find.
