What does Joshua 5:6 mean?

The Israelites wandered in the desert for forty years until all the men who left Egypt—those who ignored what the Lord said—had died. The Lord had sworn they wouldn’t see the land he promised their ancestors, a land full of good things, because they hadn’t listened to him. Joshua 5:6 - Modern Text Bible
