What does Amos 3:12 mean?

This is what the Lord says: Just as a shepherd might pull a couple of legs or an ear from a lion's mouth, that's all that will be left of Israel—just a piece here and there from Samaria's beds and Damascus's couches. Amos 3:12 - Modern Text Bible
