What does 2 Samuel 15:11 mean?
Two hundred men from Jerusalem went with Absalom. They’d been invited and went innocently, not knowing what was really going on. 2 Samuel 15:11 - Modern Text Bible
(These men are just along for the ride, unaware they’re being used as part of Absalom’s plot.)
Two hundred men from Jerusalem go with Absalom, not knowing about his plan to overthrow David. They’re invited as guests, caught up in events much bigger than themselves. The Hebrew word for "innocent" here is tamim, meaning blameless or without fault—they have no idea what’s really happening.
This verse pushes back on the belief that everyone involved in a conspiracy is complicit. Sometimes, people are swept up in things they don’t understand, simply because they trust the wrong person or follow the crowd.
Maybe you’ve been in a situation where you realized too late that you were part of something you didn’t agree with. This verse is a warning about the dangers of going along with the group without asking questions. It’s a reminder to pause and consider where your choices—and your trust—might be leading you.
