What does 2 Samuel 13:27 mean?

Absalom kept insisting, so David finally agreed and sent Amnon and all the other king’s sons with him. 2 Samuel 13:27 - Modern Text Bible

(Absalom’s persistence works. David allows all his sons, including Amnon, to go.)

David finally agrees to Absalom’s request and sends Amnon and all his sons to the feast. The Hebrew word for “insisted” is patsar, which means to press or urge strongly. David gives in, possibly out of trust or just to keep the peace, not realizing he’s setting up a disaster.

This verse pushes back against the idea that giving people what they want is always the best way to avoid conflict. Sometimes, saying yes can have unintended consequences, especially when you don’t know the whole story.

If you’ve ever agreed to something just to stop someone from pushing, this verse shows how easy it is to miss what’s really happening. Sometimes, the right answer is to ask more questions, not just say yes.
