What does 2 Kings 2:8 mean?

Elijah said to Elisha, 'Stay here. God is sending me to the Jordan.' But Elisha replied, 'As surely as God lives and as you live, I'm not leaving you.' So the two of them went on together. 2 Kings 2:8 - Modern Text Bible
